@mjtsai Absolutely. Should be notet on 36pt Helvetica on their download page. I wasted hours fiuntil i found this out. Better yet, fix it.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mjtsai

@mjtsai The only way to sync down to a different folder would be to move the folder on a remote machine or their web-interface (if possible)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mjtsai

@danielpunkass You’d also need to change a file on the remote side otherwise there wouldn’t be a change. DB doesn’t do resource forks though

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@mjtsai Don’t even waste your time trying. Dropbox doesn’t support resource forks nor extended attributes. Unfortunately.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to mjtsai

@danielpunkass UI is always responsive here, even after a marathon backup of 14 hours. Filetransfer is slow though. On a BlackBook fwiw.

In Strasbourg. SO many good restaurants, so hard to chose.

via Twitter Web Client

@rands Oh yes, my Leica is constantly set to 16:9 too. Such a difference.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to rands

@rands Wikipedia if that counts as a web app.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to rands

@danielpunkass Allthough you didn’t ask me, i’ll tell you, that my TomTom GO 720T works well for me.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@zeldman I once had a coworker crashing macs by just touching them. Luckily i have the opposite powers and make them work again by touching.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to zeldman

@zeldman You, Sir and technology don’t seem to be best friends. SMSes not delivered, iPhone and Sync Problems… There are many like you.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to zeldman

@danielpunkass Good to know. How clever from them. So we can at least hire someone to compile the code in MS VisualStudio or port it to OSX.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@danielpunkass And hopefully, JungleDisk will still be in business the day we need to restore something ;-)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@danielpunkass Ah, ok. Thanks. So hopefully that backup of ca. 40 GB will ever finish. Next try: A Bucket on an S3 Server in Europe.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@danielpunkass Does JungleDisk also slow to a crawl for you sometimes? I backup with 568 kbit/s currently on a 25Mbit leased line. Not ISDN!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@danielpunkass They did that to make you agree to modified terms.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@chadyj I need a little more context to understand the :-) you just twittered me

via Twitter Web Client in reply to chadyj

Also, why does Amazon make me download S3 Usage-Reports as CSV files to view in Excel. I have a browser supporting the <table> tag.

via Twitter Web Client

@fdejako I had errors about failed file deletions too. Sucks. I’d so love to backup to S3 with JungleDisk, but waiting for deletions - hmmm

via Twitter Web Client in reply to fdejako

Sheesh, what decade are we living in where deleting an entire S3 Bucket takes 45 minutes. Thank god for real filesystem on my personal HD.

via Twitter Web Client

@rands Priceless. Brilliant. Ingenious. Thanks for linking!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to rands

@cameronmoll Promising webapp. APparently doesn’t scale. Must be Rails ;-)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to cameronmoll

@Hicksdesign why different iPhoto Libraries? Isn’t a seperate iPhoto Album (Folder) enough to separate? What would a sep. Library gain you?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to Hicksdesign

AppleScript Soap request to Pingdom API gains instant Notification via Growl. Cool

via Twitter Web Client

@textism If i only could. But then, maybe because i don’t have any BdP to reward myself. Congrats! I’ll have a camel non filter on you now.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to textism

@cocoia Let dropbox know your thoughts about this on their forum. That will help some.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to sdw

@cocoia You have to be aware, that Dropbox doesn’t sync Mac Resource Forks and extended File Attributes yet!!!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to sdw

Yikes, finally a monitoring service that doesn’t suck™ and is affordable: http://www.pingdom.com

via Twitter Web Client

If you geotag photos and iPhoto doesn’t show the Lat/Lon in Exif, it cached it. Restart iPhoto with CMD-ALT pressed and rebuild all possible

@jasonfried What a Jungle of glossy Bling that is ;-) Quiz: find the bathrooms.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jasonfried

@siracusa Ah! I see. My main reason is read/unread syncing so NewsGator works fine. Worth a Feature Request with Brent though.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to siracusa

@siracusa why don’t you use NewsGator Syncing? Works much better IMHO and syncs with the iPhone too.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to siracusa

@fdejako Do you have a 1 pixel border around the element? Maybe this gets subtraced from the width?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to fdejako

@jasonfried Dou you realize the “tad” slower processor in day to day work on the Air?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jasonfried

@jasonfried I know exactly what you mean but don’t forget, he is shy, european and very passionate and not necessarily a pro speaker

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jasonfried

As a consumer, i still love my BlackBook which runs at the same clockspeed only with cheaper graphics (which works fine for my use).

via Twitter Web Client

From an Industrial Designer’s point of view, the new MacBooks are jaw-dropping innovations. Beautiful shell. Piece of art and craftsmanship.

@chuq I assume, this http://www.flickr.com/ph… is the vivezaed one? Too redis for my taste. But an interesting tool

via Twitter Web Client in reply to chuq

I guess what we have seen today might finally be the “Product Transition” Apple talked about in the last financial call.

via Twitter Web Client

Don’t like glossy screens. Especially not on the Desktop. On a Laptop i can live with. But built in iSight and Speakers, yes!

via Twitter Web Client

@gruber Congrats on your sources for the Event. Spot on.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to gruber

@danielpunkass Oh shit. Scoble is born on the same day than me. Didn’t really want to know this ;-)

via Twitter Web Client in reply to danielpunkass

@zeldman Take the chance and Dance the lonley waltz!

@seiz if Entourage suddenly displays unreadable text with funny characters, do this: http://snipurl.com/4cc8r

via Twitter Web Client in reply to seiz

@textism OOps. Sorry for wasting electrons.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to textism

@textism Hesitate to say it (knock on wood) Entourage never let me and my 7 GB worh of IMAP Mail down yet.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to textism

@textism unfortunately i haven’t found a good replacement for Entourage yet. Mail.app surely isn’t is for how it totally not gets IMAP. Tip?

via Twitter Web Client in reply to textism

@textism destiny often takes good care. Not that I would wish anyone death, but I surely won’t miss that guy.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to textism

Oh, European Socialist = Scumbag. That was new to me. A toast on the USA: http://snipurl.com/48zm5

via Twitter Web Client

@fdejako Oh, happy birthday, if it is yours you are drinking on! Alles Gute!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to fdejako

Showstopper! @Dropbox doesn’t support resource forks and extended attributes on the mac. Jiminy!

via Twitter Web Client

@adamengst why not use rsync directly via cron. I do that and run it every 8 hours. Saved my bacon once (allthough on 10.3.9 i use psync).

via Twitter Web Client in reply to adamengst

@adamengst For DB backups you should never backup the actual DB. Dump them elsewhere and back that up. Definitively!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to adamengst

@adamengst Curious wether you write something up about your recent experience with your various backup solutions which failed. Interresting!

via Twitter Web Client in reply to adamengst

@jasonfried Kottke once had the same question about rural Internet. Maybe he posted his findings on his blog…

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jasonfried

@jasonfried we used it once in our Virginia office. Worked fine. High latency however makes some things like VPN almost impossible iirr.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to jasonfried

@fdejako i’ll sign it. A simple find by name, size etc.

via Twitter Web Client in reply to fdejako

Apple please buy Dropbox and put iDisk out of its misery.
